Ravi Krishnamurthy is a New Zealand software architect. He is famous for being the father of New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra.

Ravi Krishnamurthy was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Growing up, he developed an interest in cricket and played for school and college cricket teams. He is a graduate of Sivananda Sarma Memorial RV Degree College, Bangalore. In 1997, he and his wife moved to Wellington, New Zealand, after finding a job as a software engineer. Ravi played club level cricket in his hometown of Bangalore before moving to New Zealand.

- Lachin revealed in an interview that Ravi traveled to India with Lachin during the New Zealand winter so that he could train well. During the tour of India, Lachin trained under local coaches in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Ananthapur.
- Ravi is widely believed to have named his son Rachin, combining the names of Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. But Ravi revealed in an interview that this was not the case and the name was suggested by Rachin’s mother as she liked it. After many years, they realized that it happened to be a combination of Rahul and Sachin’s names. He said,
When Lachin was born, my wife suggested the name and we didn’t spend a lot of time discussing it. The name sounded good, was easy to spell, and was short, so we decided to just go with it. It was only a few years later that we realized the name was a mix of Rahul and Sachin’s names. He was not named to make our child a cricketer or anything like that. “
