Family dynamics don’t get more complicated than family dynamics raymond and ray. Better yet, one hopes they don’t get more complicated. This dark comedy from writer-director Rodrigo Garcia is a tale of chaos and absurdity about two half-brothers who bond over past trauma. While some of the leads didn’t pan out as one might have expected, it seemed to fit the theme of loss and unresolved conflict. Raymond (Ewan McGregor) and Ray (Ethan Hawke) are half-brothers with little in common in appearance. From Harris’ lover and partner Lucia (Maribel Verdu) to his nurse Kira (Sophie Okonedo), the man seems to have turned over a new leaf in his later years. raymond and ray “Wisely” doesn’t seek to offer any easy answers about a person’s memory, instead leaving its characters in the awkward position that often arises after the loss of a loved one. Raymond and Ray can’t reconcile the father they knew with the man people keep describing to them, and Garcia doesn’t try to fill any holes.
Although the core of the film is essentially a cemetery scene; raymond and ray Getting to this point takes time. The slower pace early on lessens the impact of certain moments, and it feels like the film was almost based on a stage play. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does give the overall story a more sleepy vibe. This is partly due to the unique cast of characters joining them. In addition to Lucia and Kira, there are also some surprising new members, including a stylish priest played by Wardie Curtis Hall and a funeral home employee played by Todd Louiso. As Raymond and Ray painstakingly shovel six feet of dirt into the ground, new secrets are revealed and mixed emotions surface. Garcia injects some moments of dark humor into the film, with some of the best taking place in the cemetery. This is also where McGregor and Hawke can really let loose.

McGregor often delivered on Hawke’s promise, but his character had a more shaky storyline. Raymond is just as wounded as Ray, but the way he handles his emotions is more predictable, which lessens its impact.Among the supporting cast, Verdu is shockingly candid as Lucia, while Okonedo develops a delightful rapport with Hawke. raymond and ray Extra conspiracy jolts. She proved to be one of the most compelling figures in the band.
