Really surprised. Two years on the Dead Sea, the wedding dress turned into a work of art

According to the artist, this transformation is supposed to symbolize the path that the heroine “Dybbuka” has walked, as well as her own relationship with the Dead Sea. However, the project did not develop as intended by Sigalit…

“Every year I learn more and more about this incredible place beneath the surface of the world’s oceans,” says Sigalit Landau. “Magic exists here, creating new experiments, ideas, insights.

It’s as if you come across a completely different culture and concept of time, after being on another planet.”

Sigalit had a rough idea of what the dress would look like after two years of soaking in salt water. She leaves the process entirely to the elements, not trying to interfere.

The biggest surprise for the artist was the enormous weight of her new work, which became very heavy due to the abundance of salt crystals.

To lift the dress out of the water, they didn’t need to call in special equipment.

The resulting masterpiece The Salty Dress is currently on display at London’s Museum of Modern Art as part of the Salt Bride exhibition.
