Is Vote ready for Reba McEntire?
On Tuesday, the country icon appeared in a new promo video for Season 24 of the NBC singing competition series as she takes her red chair alongside fellow coaches Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani and John Legend — and she’s not sure how she feels about them yet.
“Should you like me? Be mean to you? Is there something I need to know to win?” asked the “Fancy” performer, 68, in a video documenting their first day on set together.
Legend, 44, then chimed in, “You should be directing all the artists my way,” to which McEntire quipped, “Your time? What?”

Horan, 30, seemed to agree with both McEntire and Stefani, 53, as the two ladies gushed over his “sweet” Irish accent. “Do you hear that, Shelton?” the former One Direction member asked, referring to the former Vote coach Blake Shelton, who is also the husband of the “Hollaback Girl” musician.
Sitting in her red chair later in the video, McEntire talked about her experience on the show so far. “The blind auditions were a lot harder than I thought they would be,” she said. “They block you, and it’s so tricky – but it’s also a lot of fun!”
Along with the other coaches, she joked that they get along. “They’re all as sweet and nice offstage as they can be. But when they get onstage, they change their personalities a little bit,” McEntire said, before adding with a laugh to the camera, “They’re really mean — especially Gwen!”
Vote season 24 will premiere on September 25th at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.

In May, McEntire opened up to PEOPLE about joining the series. “The country lane — I’m taking over for Blake so I’ll be representing country music. [He’s got] big boots. “I don’t know the size of those boots, but they’re big, so I’m going to try really hard to make him proud,” she said of Shelton, 47.
Although McEntire is no stranger to the show — she was previously a megamentor multiple times — the Grammy winner said she still has a lot of catching up to do.
“John and Niall [are] everyone’s really funny and smart, and they always have so many smart things to say, so I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me,” McEntire said. “I’m most excited about getting started and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of help, a lot of advice, a lot of people coming around and say: ‘You can do it. You can do it.’ And I’m not afraid at all. I think it will be a very fun adventure.”
