The twist is about to begin!
Since she was a child, Katherine Jackson, the eldest child of the Jackson family of musicians, has been in a relationship with her ex-husband. According to Jel Jones’ biography of Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson Rocked the World and Lives Forever, Jackson met Brown when she was 11 years old. She eventually declared her desire to marry her childhood love in 1968, when she was 18 years old. She then confessed her feelings for her then-boyfriend, declaring her desire to relocate to Kentucky and spend the remainder of her life with him.
While Jackson’s mother encouraged her daughter to continue, believing that being a wife and mother were critical roles for her daughter, the singer’s father was not pleased. This also resulted in a schism within the Jackson family. Her father, Joe, who died on June 27, 2018, was reportedly opposed to the marriage because he wanted his eldest daughter to follow in her brothers’ footsteps and become a singer as well.

He believed, however, that his daughter marrying Brown would limit her opportunities to shine in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, she had taken clarinet, piano, and dance lessons throughout her childhood but had no interest in pursuing a career in music. She reportedly also won several singing competitions while singing duets with Jackie. For weeks, the now-famous singer fought for her love until her father relented and allowed Rebbie to marry Brown. However, he refused to accompany her down the aisle.
Rebbie Jackson and Nathaniel Brown married on November 30, 1968, and then relocated to Kentucky to start a family together.
