According to Women’s Wear Daily, Sunrise Brands, a Los Angeles-based diversified clothing company, has acquired global fashion brand Rebecca Minkoff for an estimated $13 million to $19 million.
Company founder Rebecca Minkoff is expected to remain as creative director. Uri Minkoff, her brother and co-founder of the company, will step down as CEO and move into a senior advisor role. The Minkoffs launched the high-end clothing, accessories and bag company in New York in 2005 when the “Morning After Bag”, Rebecca Minkoff’s first bag design, became a hit. In addition to launching her first clothing line in 2009, she also founded the Female Founder Collective in 2018, a network of women-led businesses that support and invest in women-owned businesses.
Sunrise’s labels represent more than a dozen brands, including NYDJ, Diane Gilman, Joie, Equipment, Current/Elliott and Skinnygirl. According to WWD, the company has also worked privately with celebrities Melissa McCarthy and Eva Longoria.
