This week on the “Selling A President 2020” podcast, Reed Galen, co-founder of SuperPac, whose goal is to ensure Donald Trump serves only one term in office, talks with DeVito/Verdi advertising executive Ellis Verdi about how his – called the “pirate ship” of the creatives was so successful in getting into the head of the president and tilting the election in favor of Joe Biden.

The Lincoln Project has been successful in sounding out the president while providing cover for the Biden campaign with its scathing social media posts and detailed ads targeted at his mind. The Lincoln Project, founded by prominent “never trumpeters” like George Conway, Steve Schmidt and Rick Wilson, seems to enjoy criticizing the president in its myriad of malicious posts, tweets and ads. The sustained attack serves two purposes: to get a response from his victim and to distance Trump from undecided Republican supporters and conservative independents.
Verdi believes that the SuperPac ad agency is the type of ad agency that is likely to dominate the business in the future. He cites Project Lincoln’s great creativity, quick ad buying, clarity of mission, and mastery of multiple communication platforms.
Verdi adds on the podcast that “The Lincoln Project may be showing the advertising world that we may be heading in the wrong direction right now.” They could be an ideal example of the advertising agencies of the future.
Verdi’s high praise carries weight as his esteemed agency has been one of the most lauded creative firms for the past three decades, winning nearly every creative award in the business. DeVito/Verdi also used its skills in the political sphere, serving as the lead campaign organization for a series of gubernatorial, mayoral and 527 races, most notably Hillary Clinton’s victorious Senate bid.
Galen praises his team for being able to “hit (Trump’s) bubble of unreality” by attacking him at awkward and exposed moments of the interview. According to Galen, an act is considered successful if it can make the president feel something instinctively. Many, according to the speaker, were just waiting for someone to speak up and protest,
