Renuka Singh started her political career as a member of Ramanuj Nagar District Panchayat and was later elected to the Janpad Panchayat in 1999. She was appointed president of Ramanuj Nagar Mandal by the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2000 and became a member of the Presidential Commission on Social Welfare in 2002.
Renuka Singh was first elected as MLA from Ramanuj Nagar Assembly in Surgujja district in 2003. In 2008, she was re-elected as MLA from Prem Nagar constituency. During her tenure, she served as Minister of State with Independent Responsibility and also as Deputy Chairman of Surguja Development Authority. In the 2013 assembly elections, Renuka Singh lost to senior Congress leader Khelsai Singh. However, in the 2019 general elections, she again contested against Khelsay Singh and won by a margin of 1,57,873 votes. She was appointed Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs on May 30, 2019, for a term till December 7, 2023.
In the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, Renuka Singh contested from the Bharatpur-Sonhat assembly constituency and won for the third time.
