Jennifer Aydin may be starting to feel the effects of her viral Jersey Mike’s debacle.
On Wednesday, January 1, The Real Housewives of New Jersey The 47-year-old star sparked a barrage of criticism from fans after she shared an Instagram Story in which she described an unsatisfactory experience with an “80-year-old” employee at Jersey Mike’s. The encounter also included a heated exchange with a “loser” customer who told the reality star she was “ridiculous”.
Now it appears the reality star may be facing the first direct impact of that viral incident. Aydin was scheduled to set sail on the Fans at Sea cruise with co-stars Teresa Giudice and Dolores Catania for the “Wives on the Waves” getaway from Sept. 1-6. But PEOPLE has learned that Aydin has now been removed from the trip entirely.
“We can confirm that Jennifer is no longer part of our cruise line,” Fans at Sea said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “This decision was not personal or an act of canceling anyone.”
“We believe in second chances and personal growth,” the statement continued. “Our priority is to create a fun, drama-free experience for everyone. To ensure that, we’ve made adjustments to make the cruise comfortable and welcoming for all guests.”
As for Aydin’s replacement, Fans at Sea also said it will “soon add a third ‘Housewife’ to the roster” to join Giudice, 52, and Catania, 54. The cruise line’s statement added that it will let PEOPLE know when it’s “ready to share more details about this exciting addition.”
“We are thrilled to announce that our official press release will be released soon and we can’t wait to introduce this exciting event to fans,” the statement read.
On New Year’s Day, Aydin took to Instagram to rant about Jersey Mike’s travails in an expired Instagram Stories video, which was later shared by a fan account on TikTok.
In the clip, the reality star left, saying she was “so pissed off” after queuing at the Submarine sandwich chain for “what seemed like forever” on holiday.

“When it came time to take our order, they took our order. And then they took the order of the lady who was behind me, but they kind of filled her order first. They made us wait. Okay, whatever,” Aydin said in the recording.
“And the 80-year-old woman who worked there, the time it took to cut that bread was almost as long as we waited [in] that sentence, Jesus. Oh my god. Everything was slow. We’re not complaining, we get it. It’s early morning. You are in a bad mood. It’s the new year, you’re working. I would be angry too,” she continued.
After Aydin accused the employee of just pretending not to “hear” her, she revealed that she had tried to add an extra sandwich to her order for her son Jacob. She shares her five children – Justin, Gabby, Olivia, Christian and Jacob – with her husband Bill Aydin.

However, according to Aydin, the addition to her order did not sit well with the customer waiting in line behind her.
“While she’s making my sandwich, I add a tuna sandwich for Jacob, and she says, ‘You’re going to have to wait [in] order again.’ And I said, ‘Are you kidding me?'” Aydin said in her Instagram Stories video about the incident.
“And I asked the guy behind me, ‘Do you mind if I just add a turkey sandwich for my son?’ He says, ‘I mean, that’s kind of funny.'”
Aydin then called the male customer a “f*cking jerk” in his video of her Jersey Mike’s visit and claimed the customer behind her threatened to sue her after discovering she had been filming the encounter.

Since Aydin’s post about Jersey Mike’s, more fans have commented on her experience. One TikTok commenter asked why she was “making fun of an elderly person” and another called her “so reckless”.
Other followers voiced their frustrations in the comments section of Aydin’s recent Instagram posts, with some noting that she was “talking bad about an older woman.”
“I’m horrified by what I just saw in your stories,” one commenter added.
