The cast Succession had a final go at the 2024 Golden Globes with the series’ win for Best Drama Series.
Kieran Culkin, who played Roman Roy in the HBO series, kissed the hand of his co-star and friend J. Smith-Cameron (whose character Gerri Kellman had a deliciously twisted relationship with Roman) before the cast took the stage. Soon after, Nicholas Braun had a signature Cousin Greg moment as he lifted his knees high as he ran to join his colleagues.
Succession Creator Jesse Armstrong said in his speech: “Thank you so much. That said, but this show is a team effort, which is one of the reasons it’s so great to do.”
He continued, “I’d like to accept this on behalf of the entire room of legacy writers, directors led by Mark Mylod, my fellow producers, the extremely subtle and supple cast and crew who have worked so dedicatedly and brilliantly on four seasons of the show.”
“HBO has been supportive all along… And so it’s been such a wonderful team to work with,” he added. “We decided this was the right time to end the show and it was very bittersweet. Especially for me because I finally bought shoes that are suitable for awards season – this may be the last time I wear them.”
Taking a step back from the levity, he concluded, “But no, it’s bittersweet, but things like this make it quite a bit sweeter, so thank you very much.”

Among the 2024, Paramount+ was also nominated Yellowstone spinoff in 1923Netflix’s Crown and Diplomatfavorite Apple TV+ Morning show and HBO The last of us.
Succession was last year’s winner in this category and came into the night as the heavy favorite after his fourth and final season earned him universal praise.
Ahead of Sunday’s ceremony, stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin were nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, with Culkin taking home the statuette. Costar Sarah Snook won in the lead actress category for her portrayal of the Roy family’s fictional steely heiress Siobhan (aka “Shiv”). And J. The second nominee is also included in 1923, which followed Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as husband and wife Jacob and Cara Dutton, whose struggles in the rough early 20th century paved the way for the success of their great-nephew John Dutton (last year’s Best Actor winner Kevin Costner) generations later.
Along with the nomination for Best Drama Series, Mirren received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama category.

Although Crown just finished its sixth and final season last month, this weekend’s Globes honored the fifth season, which continued to fictionalize the real life of the British royal family in the ’90s leading up to the shocking, sudden death of Princess Diana in August 1997.
Elizabeth Debicki’s uncanny resemblance to the beloved royal family – not to mention her masterful performance – earned the Australian actress the supporting actress trophy this year. Imelda Staunton’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and Dominic West’s turn as King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) were also recognized in the leading categories.

Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell’s sizzling chemistry on Netflix Diplomat was just one element that got the show on the Globes’ radar.
In the first season of the series, Russell’s Kate Wyler reluctantly took over as the US ambassador to the United Kingdom. Unwittingly put on the fast track to becoming Vice President of the US if she succeeds, Kate has been running high-stakes schemes and scams on the global stage—and in her own household, thanks to Sewell’s ever-scheming politician Hal.
Russell is nominated in this year’s Best Actress in a Drama category, almost 25 years after she won the same award in 1999 for her breakthrough role in Felicity. Recently, spy games have served her well on screen, earning her two acting Globes Americans‘ Elizabeth Jennings.

Billy Crudup will compete in the drama actor category for the second time thanks to his work on the third season, in which his character Cory Ellison maneuvered furiously to maintain power in the fictional UBA network — even as his path was strewn with bombs being thrown and others inside and outside the company, from Jon Hamm’s tech innovator Paul Marks to Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy searching for a brass ring and Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson and her seemingly cluttered closet full of skeletons.

The last of us literally became a viral sensation in its strong first season.
Along with the drama series nomination, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey received lead performance nods for their work.
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, the HBO drama centers on the unlikely partnership between Pascal’s gruff, damaged Joel and Ramsey’s street-smart teenage Ellie as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world filled with threats from zombie-like undead and even scarier human survivors.
