Erin Lichy described a pregnancy prank that recently played out on The The Real Housewives of New York was “crazy,” but she says she went along with it for good reason.
The Bravo star, 37, joined fellow New York Housewife Ubah Hassan at the Bravo Fan Fest in Miami over the weekend where she reflected on the show’s most recent episodes — including her prank gone wrong where she and actress Rebecca Minkoff tricked the women on the thought that the latter is pregnant with someone other than her husband’s child.
Minkoff and LIchy came up with the prank during lunch before a group game of dodgeball. They would tell the other woman that Minkoff was pregnant, but they didn’t know who the father was after the “crazy night.”
“I thought it was a crazy idea to start that rumor about myself,” Lichy told PEOPLE exclusively at Bravo Fan Fest. “But I was down to perform it because I wanted to see who the pigeons really were.”
While the joke was intended for Minkoff and Lichy to find out who the “hustling pigeon” — or group gossip — was spreading the rumor, the joke soon turned serious as the other women began to feel that Lichy had gassed them after learning that Brynn Whitfield was in on the joke the whole time – which Lichy didn’t reveal.

“I think the reason she told you the joke is because she wants you to do it and then go around to everyone else and say, ‘Look! Look! Who’s the leaky pigeon?’ ” Hassan told Whitfield in the episode. “Because if she hadn’t told you it was a joke, you wouldn’t have said that.”
Host Sai De Silva also found the joke in bad taste, pointing out in her confessional that three people in the group – Jessel Tank, Hassan and Whitfield – were hoping to have babies themselves, which the joke fell flat on.
“I mean, there are three women who want to be pregnant,” she said. “I think maybe Rebecca and Erin should check their baby privilege at the door.”
While it was revealed that Minkoff, who is a mother of four, was not pregnant, Lichy herself is actually expecting her fourth child with her husband, Abe. Their latest addition joins sons Levi, 9, Elijah, 4, and daughter Layla, 7.

Lichy says her three children really wanted another sibling.
“They were begging me to get pregnant, begging me! ‘Please, we really want another child,'” Lichy said in Miami. “‘You know? That means less toys, less attention, what’s wrong with you?” They wanted it.”
She jokingly confirmed that her husband Abe, 42, is the father (with the pregnancy joke still a hot topic) and revealed that she was feeling “fine”.
“Well, it’s harder because everyone wears me down even more,” Lichy admitted. “But at this point it’s so well known that it’s pretty easy.” The mom-to-be also revealed that while she wants to be healthier this time around, she still craves carbs “as much as ever.”
