- Since his father was a policeman, Rhythm Sangwan has been dealing with guns and ammunition since he was a child. She was fascinated by her father’s army revolver and often carried an empty holster around the house. Her mother was also a sports player during her school days. However, she couldn’t go on any longer. She had always wanted Rhythm to play sports and she often accompanied her to all practices.
- At the age of 13, Rhythm started shooting training at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi in 2016 and was trained by national shooter Vineet Kumar.
- Her parents built a basic shooting range for her to practice on. In 2020, during lockdown, the in-house range was a huge help in keeping her shooting form intact.
- In 2023, she broke the 29-year-old record in the women’s 25m pistol event at the IISF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. Rhythm scored 595 points, breaking the record of 594 points held by 1994 Atlanta Olympics silver medalist and Bulgarian shooter Diana Iorgova. She also broke Russia’s Nino Salukvadze’s 32-year qualifying record in the women’s 25m pistol junior category. in 1989.
