After graduation, she started preparing for UPSC CSE and attended the General Studies Pre-Main Course at Vajiram & Ravi Coaching Center, an IAS coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi (2019-20). In an interview, when talking about preparation for the exam, she said,
I started prepping when I was in college, but both were hard to handle, so I actually started after 2019. I would say the key to cracking the UPSC exam is consistent hard work, discipline and patience. You have to make a lot of sacrifices during preparation, like giving up your social life, but you have to do it to stay consistent and disciplined. “
She appeared for the exam and secured 15th rank in the Federal Public Service Commission Civil Service Examination (2020). Her total score was 1021 points, including 859 points in the written test and 162 points in the personality test (or interview). In an interview, she shared how she is coping with the COVID-19 pandemic situation. she says,
When the UPSC examination 2020 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I did not lose hope and continued my studies through online coaching classes. “
She further added,
The caste system is extremely strict and I don’t think it should exist. I was just 18 years old when my sister got first in UPSC. This is very inspiring. But if you ask me who my inspiration is, I would say my mother. “
Ria’s sister Tina shared the news of Ria’s UPSC result on her Instagram account. she wrote,

Facts/Trivia
- In an interview, she revealed that she studied hard to pass the UPSC exam. She also said that after the tutoring class, she would study at home for 10 hours a day, avoid using social media, and only use it in emergencies.
