Richard Gere and Wife Alejandra Silva Have Stylish Date Night at amfAR Gala in Venice

Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva looked as glamorous as ever as they celebrated Gere’s latest achievement.

The A beautiful woman star and activist attended the amfAR Gala during the 81st Venice International Film Festival on Sunday, September 1.

For the occasion, Gere, who turned 75 on Saturday, August 31, chose a classic tuxedo with a black bow tie. Silva (41), on the other hand, wore a transparent dress decorated with large sparkling dark blue flowers. She completed the halter-style dress with dangling earrings and matching heels.

Also on Sunday, the couple attended Wolves premiere on the red carpet, which required a wardrobe change.

Silva donned a flowing white evening dress with an asymmetric slit, paired with strappy metallic heels.

Silva wore her hair down for both chic ensembles. In one photo on the red carpet ahead of the film’s premiere, Gere could be seen bowing to his wife as she looked up at him.

Gere’s 24-year-old son, Homer, joined them at one point on the carpet, looking dapper in a classic black tuxedo.

At the gala dinner, Gere was presented with amfAR’s Inspiration Award. “Few people in the entertainment industry have done as much as Richard Gere to advance the fight against AIDS,” amfAR Executive Director Kevin Robert Frost said in a press release.

“His humanitarian instincts and deep desire to help those on the margins of society make him an inspiration to all of us here at amfAR,” added Frost.

Gere has been vocal in AIDS awareness campaigns for over 20 years and has received many awards for his efforts.

Per AARP MagazineIn 2002, Gere founded the charity Healing the Divide, which aims to help communities in Asia, the Middle East and the United States deal with social and cultural struggles, including early HIV/AIDS awareness.

Antonio Banderas and film producer Mohammed Al Turki were also honored at the amfAR Gala. The event, hosted by Kate Beckinsale, featured Kelly Rowland and Rumer Willis.

The AIDS Research Foundation’s goal is to end the AIDS epidemic through life-saving research.

Gere and Silva got close again in 2014 and started dating shortly after. Silva said Hello! in 2015 that she had known Gere for more than a decade, and there was chemistry as soon as the pair reconnected.

“Our karma was attracted as soon as we saw each other,” she said at the time.

“I don’t ignore our age difference and what it means to be with a Hollywood star, but when there is such a strong karmic energy, the problems disappear,” added Silva.

The couple has been married since 2018. They have two sons, Alexander (5) and his younger brother (4), whose name remains unknown.

Silva has another son, Albert, 11, with ex-husband Govin Friedland. Gere shares a son, Homer, with ex-wife Carey Lowell.
