Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva made the 2024 Cannes Film Festival the place to be for a stylish date!
The married couple were all smiles as they attended the premiere of Gere’s new film on Friday, May 17, Oh, Canadawhere he stars alongside Uma Thurman, Jacob Elordi, Victoria Hill and Michael Imperioli.
According to the official synopsis, the film focuses on the story of a famous Canadian documentary filmmaker who “gives a final interview to one of his former students to tell the whole truth about his life.” It was directed by Paul Schrader, who previously worked with Gere American Gigolo.
Gere, 74, was dressed to impress in a classic black tuxedo, white shirt and black bow tie. Silva, 41, radiated beauty in a strapless black A-line dress with floral embroidery.

The elegant look was paired with long sparkling dangling earrings, a necklace and multiple rings.
PEOPLE previously confirmed that Silva and Gere tied the knot in a secret ceremony in April 2018. At the time, a source told PEOPLE, “They are so comfortable with each other, having fun together, and looking forward to their future together.”
The couple has two children: Alexander, 5, and a younger son born in April 2020, whose name has not yet been revealed. Gere is also the father of a son, Homer, 24, with ex-wife Carey Lowell.

Although their red carpet appearances together have been rare, Silva attended a special screening of his film Maybe I will in January 2023. That same month, Gere spoke with Extra about the care and effort invested in marriage.
“There are always two things going on at the same time in any relationship. You, as an individual, are still trying to figure out who you are. How do you share that with the other person and does it fit?” He said.

“The person you are today was not the same person 50 years ago when the relationship started,” Gere continued. “They’re not the same person. You’re not the same people together. So it’s a constant check to see, ‘Is this working?'”
