Jam Rick Buckler drummer died at the age of 69 after a short illness.

Rick was a hit band drummer from his formation in the early 1970s to the breakup in the early 1980s.

Rick is surviving his wife Lesley and their two children, Jason and Holly.

His colleagues from Jam’s Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton confirmed sad news in separate statements.

Weller wrote: “I am shocked and saddened by Rick’s passing. I think about all of us how we will rehearse in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. In all pubs and clubs where we played as children, to eventually make a record.

“What a trip! We have crossed our dreams and what we have done is a test of time. My deepest sympathy for all family and friends – PW X.”

Bruce Foxton said, “I was shocked and devastated when I heard very sad news today. Rick was a good guy and a great drummer whose innovative drum samples helped shape our songs.

“I’m glad we had the opportunity to work together as much as we do. My thoughts are with Leslie and his family in this very difficult time,” “

The legendary musician Rick was forced to cancel his recent tour of the words spoken by “current health problems.”

February 1, his team posted a message on Facebook cancellation.

Between 1977 and 1982 Jam had 18 consecutive UK Top 40 singles, including four goals number 1, partly responsible for the MOD revival movement in the UK.

After the downtime, Rick founded it UK with Jimmy Edwards, Ray Simone, Danny Kustow and Basist Nick South.

The band released 3 single and posthumous singles/demos collection.

The last collection also contained records that Rick shot with Bruce Foxton and Edwards called Sharp.

In the late 1980s, Rick joined the production as the band split, a leading studio in Islington.

Rick deciphered to completely leave the professional music scene in the mid-1990s.

He decided to focus on carpentry and what would now be classified as “progress” of distressed furniture.

After years away from music, in 2005 he set up a new band, a gift, named after the Jam’s final album, initially with Russell Hastings (leading vocals/guitar) and Dave Moore (bass).

Two years later, Bruce Foxton joined Basa player, and Moore took over the rhythm of guitar and keyboards.

The new band began to play under the name of Pekmez.

But after four years of tour, Rick gave up in September 2009.

Since 2009, he has occasionally revised his musical past, performing as a drummer and also working in a management role.

Rick has published several books about his time in Jam, including our story (written with Foxton; it’s fun.

Recently published by JAM 1982 from Zoe Howe, which he promoted to the event louder than Words 2022.
