The carnival queen has arrived!
On Monday, Aug. 5, “Diamonds” singer Rihanna made her formal entrance in a particularly shaded costume at the annual Crop Over Festival in her home country of Barbados.

As she walked the streets of the Caribbean island, the 36-year-old superstar dazzled with gold and bronze jewels adorning her body. And the eye-catching combo didn’t stop there — the “Rude Boy” hitmaker wore a matching gold and bronze headpiece that perfectly matched her auburn locks with blonde highlights.
In addition to her body being adorned in glittering clothing, Rihanna’s carnival look wouldn’t be complete without feathers!
Starting from her shoulders and extending down to her feet was an array of multi-colored feathers – many of which extended high above her head.
Just two weeks ago, Chlöe Bailey also attended a carnival in St. Lucia, an island nation in the Caribbean Sea, wearing a green and gold costume.

“Carnival in St. Lucia suited my freak,” the “Have Mercy” singer wrote on a July 17 Instagram carousel, referencing Tinashe’s hit “Nasty.” Nicki Minaj is also known to have attended Trinidad.
A$AP Rocky celebrates son Riot’s 1st birthday with adorable photos and videos
Rihanna has been a regular at Crop Over in the past, although the mom of two – who welcomed her first son, RZA, in May 2022 and her second son, Riot, 15 months later with boyfriend A$AP Rocky – appears to be making her last appearance at festival 2019 before the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, the Fenty Beauty mogul swapped the body jewels for a hot pink mini dress worn beneath an assortment of pink feathers. She wore green eyeshadow and styled her hair in bantu knots.
The Barbadian businesswoman was also seen at Crop Over 2017 – this time with blonde hair and pink jewels on her body.
Rihanna also shared more photos on Instagram from her 2015 experience when she swapped her bright colors for dark green.

The official Barbados Tourism Board states that Grand Kadooment Day “celebrates the end of the Crop Over, where masquerade bands make their way to the Mighty Grynner Highway with revelers dressed in sequined costumes adorned with colorful feathers, jewels and bright details; dancing behind music trucks and moving bars.”
