While attending the Savage X Fenty Lavish Lace Collection preview at Nordstrom at Century City Mall in Los Angeles on Thursday (October 10), the singer, 36, talked about the dos and don’ts of wearing the outfit.

“Underwear, in my opinion, should be worn however and wherever you want,” Rihanna told PEOPLE exclusively. “Whether you want it exposed outside of t-shirts or inside a flowing jacket, or just to be comfortable or just to have a little support, [it doesn’t matter].”

Stating that it’s the “little things” that make fashion fun and unique for all individuals, the star shares a specific example that is special to her: “[When I] take off my makeup at night.”

“It’s just the little things that mean a lot. It feels like self-care — and it’s good,” the “Umbrella” hitmaker continues.
