Riley Barber was born in Livonia, Michigan on February 7, 1994. Riley is best known as a professional hockey player who was selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Washington, D.C. During his time at the University of Miami, he played for both the Miami Red Hawks and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Riley is from the United States. In 2017, he joined Capitals, coached by Barry Trotz, and made his NHL debut.

Barber plays college hockey for the University of Miami’s Miami RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio. Barber was selected to the Central College Hockey Association’s All-around First Team for the 2012-13 season. in recognition of his exceptional performance in the first season. He had 39 points in 40 games, 15 goals and 24 assists to finish second on the team behind Austin Czarnik, a sophomore. On December 22, 2013, Barber was named captain of the U.S. Men’s National Youth Ice Hockey Team for the 2014 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship, during his sophomore year in Miami.
