Riley Keough Shares Never-Seen Daisy Jones & The Six Band Rehearsal Footage Ahead of Emmys Night

Riley Keough remembers good times with her Daisy Jones and six costars ahead of the 2023 Emmy Awards.

The 34-year-old actress shared a never-before-seen video of her and co-star Sam Claflin rehearsing for the live shows that ended up not happening due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that ended in July.

“In honor of the Emmys, here’s a video of the last time Sammy, the band and I practiced together,” she captioned the clip on Instagram. “We were rehearsing for a live show for our lovely Daisy fans and unfortunately it never happened due to the strike.”

Keough went on to praise the film’s cast and crew Daisy Jones and sixwhich is up for nine awards at Monday’s Emmys.

“I love everyone in this band and this show so much,” she said. “Everyone on this show has worked harder than I’ve ever seen on any project in years actually. You are all winners for me.”

She concluded, “I feel so blessed to have spent time with all of you and when I lose tonight, I lose because of you. 🤡😈🥇🥇🥇🥇”

Keough’s bandmate Suki Waterhouse told PEOPLE last month that she hoped the band could still take the stage at some point.

“It’s always been the dream of the whole cast,” she said. “And hopefully one day that will become a reality.”

The series — which follows the rise and fall of a 1970s rock band as they deal with fame and their complicated relationships with each other — was one of the first in which Keough, who is Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, made a public appearance.

“We talked about [Keough] singing and we were talking about her grandfather and she was kind of like, ‘You know, I know I have it in me, but I really don’t sing outside of the shower,'” said producer Lauren Neustadter vanity fair in December 2022. “‘This isn’t something I’ve done before, but I’m willing to do the work,’ and she really did.”

After sending in an audition tape of herself singing a Fleetwood Mac song, Keough was told she had to learn to wear a belt if she wanted the part. And she did just that.

“I thought, ‘I can’t do it,’ and when I can’t do something, it lights a fire in me to do it. I thought, I have to do it. I’m going to go to this vocal coach, and he’s going to teach me how to fuck belt, whatever I have to do to get this,” the actress told the outlet. “It was really about pushing myself to do things I’d never done before.”

He had to learn to sing and play the guitar for Claflin.

“I have to say I had never picked up a guitar before I got this role,” Claflin said vanity fair. “And, you know, after I read the book, it wasn’t really clear that I was supposed to play because we took a little bit of creative freedom and moved the parts a little bit, which means I’m going to play, not a lead guitar, thank God, but a rhythm guitar. I had to to learn how to hold the guitar, how to strum the guitar. I also had the greatest journey with singing.”

“I get a little foggy thinking about the transformation and dedication,” producer Neustadter said of Claflin’s musical transformation. “During COVID, he was in England with his children, during the day he homeschooled them, took care of them, and then he would put them to bed and sit on Zoom [learn how to] play the guitar. And he’s also really changed. He transformed his body to truly be like a 70s rock star. … He was really turning into Billy, and Riley did the same.”
