Brooklinn Khoury Shares Graphic Photos of Her Nose After Dog Attack: ‘Hard to Believe’

Brooklinn Khoury shares her “painful” but “rewarding” series of reconstructive surgeries after a vicious dog attack more than three years ago.

On November 3, 2020, a professional skateboarder was attacked by a pit bull, as a result of which she lost her upper lip and part of her nose. Since then, she has documented her many surgeries on social media, as well as the final stages of the process, including lip tattoo appointments.

On Monday, the 24-year-old posted a series of graphic photos on Instagram documenting the immediate aftermath of the attack. The first photo captured Khoury’s face shortly after the attack, with her nose wrapped in gauze and her eyes swollen, almost closed. The photos that followed included shots of Khoury’s initial injuries and then pictures after the first round of surgery.

“When I look at these pictures, it’s hard to believe my nose was that bad,” Khoury wrote in the caption.

She went on to explain how her face was initially affected. “I was missing cartilage and the inner parts of my nose and nostrils. This operation was the most difficult and painful, but the greatest reward.”

In Monday’s post, Khoury shared what the initial set of reconstructive surgeries consisted of.

“My surgeon had to reconstruct the tip of my nose by cutting a piece of my cartilage from my inner septum,” explained Khoury. “After that, he connected the cartilage to what was left of the inside of my nose. I am very grateful for what my surgeon was able to achieve.”

Three years after the attack, Khoury shared a post on Instagram celebrating how far she had come since the incident. In the video, Khoury shared moments from each step of her recovery journey.

“On November 3, 2020, my life changed instantly,” Khoury wrote in the caption of the post. “I was attacked by a dog that took off my entire upper lip and parts of my nose. The last 3 years have been filled with every emotion you can think of. Happiness, growth, continuing to adapt to a society that is not used to facial differences and learning to love yourself inside and out.”

A month after celebrating her progress, she shared an inspiring post on Instagram. Khoury highlighted how long her recovery took, but stressed to all followers who are “struggling” that it “takes day by day.”

“When I was going through all these surgeries, it was really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” the influencer wrote on social media in December. “Life is unpredictable, but so beautiful. I’m proud of you. Go on.”
