Ringo Starr knows the exact moment that drumming is what he wanted to devote his life to, but that came at a time of huge personal quarrel.
Starr, 84, speaks to people while discovering his new exhibition “Beats & Threads” at The Musics Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville on Wednesday, February 19, that he first discovered the world of hunches – and knitting – while recovering while he was recovering recovered from tuberculosis in the English sanatorium.
In 1953, at only 13 years old, Starr, whose real name is Sir Richard Starkey, has infected the disease and has been admitted to a treatment facility, where he stayed for two years. Ringo Starr will make music only in this condition
“As he only randomly gives them, I’m in bed … she gives me this little drum and it was like craziness,” Starr notes about the feeling that overcame him. “I hit the drum and only from that moment on I wanted to be a drummer and that was my goal.”
Despite having to “work in several factories at the time” after recovering from tuberculosis, history proves that Star’s favor has developed music during that main hospitalization, laid the basis for drumming, as he says, becoming “the only thing I ever wanted to do. ”
Seven decades of music creativity later, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame still exploits its abundant creative energy with a recent release of his full -time village album Look upwhich was published on January 10, 2025, and contains characters Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Lucius, Larkin Poe and T-Bone Burnett.
