Rita Moreno Hopes to Celebrate 92nd Birthday with Two or Three Parties: It’s ‘a Very Big Deal’ (Exclusive)

Rita Moreno is ready to let loose for a special occasion.

The EGOT winner, who turns 92 on Dec. 11, tells PEOPLE she’s considering multiple birthday celebrations. But the festivities are not for vanity – Moreno says her new home simply cannot accommodate the number of guests she would like to host.

“Now here’s the problem: I have an apartment that I absolutely adore. It’s beautiful, but it won’t fit all the people I have for my birthday, because I always have fantastic birthdays,” he says story from the west side actress, who recently moved from a private home in California’s Berkeley Hills area to an apartment building.

“I said to my daughter, ‘What are we going to do? Because I definitely want to celebrate 92. My God, that’s so good!” adds Moreno, mom of jewelry designer Fernanda Luisa Gordon. “I mean, marking 92 is a really big deal.”

“The last one I had, there were 80 people in a very, very big house,” she continues. “It was a party house. It was huge.”

This year, “I’m thinking about maybe having two birthday parties at the apartment,” she says. “I might have to have three birthday parties.”

Moreno is just as busy professionally as she is with party planning. Earlier this year, 80 for Brady star filmed a new Netflix comedy Family switchstarring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms.

in mad friday-like the film, Garner and Helms play a married couple who switch places with their children after meeting the mysterious Angelica, played by Moreno.

She says she was hooked after reading the script. “My agent said, ‘I’m sending you the script.’ I said, ‘What’s this about?’ He said, ‘Never mind.’ He said, ‘I want you to read it because it’s really fun and it’s a surprise.’ It was all that, and then something else,” says Moreno.

With Garner and Helms in charge, Moreno didn’t have much of a chance to connect with them. “It was hard to make friends,” she says. “They were nice, wonderful people. He is extremely funny. Everything she seems to be, she is.”

Although Moreno had fun making the film, she’s happy that the premise is just a fantasy because she wouldn’t want to trade places with anyone.

“I think I’m great,” she says when asked who she would like to switch bodies with. “I mean, I have a lot of flaws that drive me crazy, and being 92 years old makes me very crazy in a lot of ways. I became more nervous and more insistent that I was right, sometimes I was and most of the time I wasn’t, things like that.”

“But I’m happy to be me. I don’t want to be anybody else,” he continues, “I mean, first of all, it just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m such a practical person that I can’t even think about such a question.”
