Moreno is starring in the upcoming film ‘The Prank’ which is set to be released on March 15th
Rita Moreno recalls what led her to a relationship with Elvis Presley.
In a fireside conversation between Moreno and People en Español at DotdashMeredith’s New York offices on Wednesday, the legendary actress opened up about her encounter with none other than the King of Rock and Roll.
“Elvis Presley is a different story,” said the 92-year-old Moreno. “I went with Marlon [Brando] in that time. He didn’t necessarily go with me, but I went with him. You know what I mean?”
“One day I found some lady’s underwear in his house and I went home crying and crying, so hurt and angry and I thought, ‘I never want to see him again,'” she continued. “But I knew I didn’t mean it. I was really completely devastated. Not just devastated, but I was his slave. I just adored him and adored him, it’s better.”
The very next day after that incident, she received an unexpected phone call from Colonel Tom Parker, who was guiding Presley.

“It turns out Elvis saw you with a 20th Century Fox commissioner,” she said in a Southern drawl, recalling what he had told her. “He liked what he saw and would really like to meet you. Would you like to meet him?”
She paused and recalled what she felt at that moment: “I saw the underwear and I said yes.”
In December 2021, the Oscar winner also spoke about the case during an appearance on View, when asked about how Brando “constantly” cheated on her during their eight-year relationship.
Moreno said she was “going out [Elvis] several times” and that she found him “cute but boring”.
“He was cute, but he was a country boy. Well, when [Brando] found out, it didn’t take long. He started throwing chairs. He was so angry. It was wonderful. And I just sat there while he threw chairs and kept going,” Moreno said, crossing her arms and pretending to look at her nails as she pretended not to be fazed by Brando’s reaction.

Moreno and Brando met when she was 22 years old on the set of a biopic about Napoleon Désirée.

In 2017, Moreno told PEOPLE that Brando was the “desire” of her life and revealed that she keeps the photo Godfather star in his bedroom.
“Why that picture of Marlon Brando? Because he was the great love of my life,” Moreno said at the time. “This one, it almost seems like a vignette from a movie, so that’s why it’s there. He was the lust of my life, and that one over there is the love of my life,” admitted Moreno, showing a framed photo of her with her husband, pictured in an embrace.
Moreno is starring in an upcoming movie, Prankwhich should be published on March 15. In the black comedy, Moreno plays the ultimate evil teacher, whose students try to get revenge on her by pulling a prank that leads to more drama than they could have ever imagined.
