Rita Wilson clarifies ‘terse’ Cannes red carpet photo with Tom Hanks: what really happened

The 76th Cannes Film Festival was an exciting experience for Wes Anderson’s cast and crew asteroid cityall brought their A-game on the red carpet.

Wilson, 66, was displeased and quickly took to social media to clarify the photos, explaining that they were just moments of confusion.

Alongside a screenshot of a newspaper that ran the story, she wrote: “This is called ‘I can’t hear you. People are screaming. What do you say? Where are we going?’

“But that didn’t sell the manga! Keep it up. We’ve done it! Go see it asteroid city!”

Aside from a brief moment of embarrassment, the pair were a resounding success, as Hanks, 66, often stepped aside to let his 35-year-old wife shine in a gorgeous black gown.

The film hits theaters on June 16, with its premiere at the prestigious French film festival, following Hanks’ debut novel, Making Another Great Movie, which was released on May 9.

The book also features many eccentric characters, including an eccentric director and a struggling actor, and the two-time Oscar winner admits they are those people in a variety of situations.
