Riyaz Bhati is one of India’s most wanted fugitives and an alleged close aide of underworld kingpin Don Dawood Ibrahim. Riyaz claims to be a builder and owns a construction company called ‘SA Bhati and Sons’ in Mumbai. Bhatti also holds various positions in various Indian sports bodies. Since February 2017, he is serving as the Managing Director of Indian Sports Academy Pvt Ltd, Mumbai. The gangster has also been booked for several cases of extortion, dismissal, land grabbing, forgery and cheating. In 2007, Riaz was also issued a surveillance order for multiple violations.

After starting her career, Bhati gradually became a promoter of Sneha Constructions in 1999 and worked there for three years till 2002. While working as a builder, Riyaz simultaneously started working with Lashkara Channel and became its director in 2000. Served until 2007. Riaz was booked in the Malad land grabbing case in 2009 and in 2010, the gangster was charged in an organized crime case along with Chhota Shakir and others. Riyaz was accused of violating MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act) by forcing builders to leave a redevelopment project in Andheri.
blackmail and dismissal
The gangster has been accused in several extortion cases, most of which were registered at Juhu and Amboli police stations in Mumbai. He was also charged in two cases of dismissal and threats against Khandala in 2007 and 2008.
fake passport
In 2013, Riaz was arrested for possessing a fake passport. In October 2015 and February 2020, Barty was again detained at two different airports for the same crime. On October 28, 2015, he was arrested for trying to flee to South Africa with a forged passport. After five days in police custody, Riyaz was sent to judicial custody and was granted bail on November 3, 2015. As Bhati was a wanted fugitive, a court order prohibited him from traveling outside India, but in 2020, Riyaz was arrested at Mumbai International Airport and again tried to flee the country to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using a fake passport.

In July 2019, Batty was jailed again after being accused of forging documents and signatures from Wilson College trustees. He reportedly did so to gain honorary membership of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) club, of which he has been a member since 2013, according to the association.
Param Bir Singh extortion case
In July 2021, Riyaz Bhati’s name appeared in an FIR registered at Goregaon police station, which also included the name of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and sacked Assistant Inspector Sachin Vaze in an extortion case. In the case, Bhatti is accused of collecting money from bars and restaurants for another suspended police inspector. In September 2021, Riaz applied for anticipatory bail to the court, but was rejected. Since then, Barty has been on the run and a search warrant was issued against the gangster.

In 2021, the criminal was accused by his wife Rehnuma Bhati of forcing her into prostitution for 15 years, blackmailing her with sensitive photos and videos of her, and threatening to kill their two children. Renuma submitted an application to the Mumbai Police on September 24, 2021, in which she claimed that Riaz had repeatedly coerced her into having sex with his business partners, famous athletes and politicians. In her application, she also accused cricketers Hardik Pandya and Munaf Patel, Indian National Congress politician and former deputy chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of Chairman Rajeev Shukla and RSBL General Manager Prithviraj Kothari, among others. Others raped her. Some media reports revealed that Genuma also accused her husband of marital rape.

- According to police, between 2009 and 2012, the wanted man successfully traveled abroad eight times and departed from Mumbai International Airport 10 times using fake passports in violation of court orders.
