Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Says Donald Trump Will 'Remove Fluoride' from Public Drinking Water if Elected

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shares one initiative that Donald Trump is said to have if he is elected president.

In a Saturday, Nov. 2 post on X (formerly Twitter), Kennedy, 70, wrote that Trump, 78, and his administration would remove fluoride from drinking water if he won the 2024 presidential election, before falsely claiming that fluoride is harmful.

“The 20th January Trump’s White House will advise all the US. plumbing systems for removing fluoride from public water. Fluoride is an industrial waste linked to arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders and thyroid disease,” Kennedy wrote.

Kennedy, who endorsed Trump in August after dropping out of the presidential race, added that Trump and Melania Trump want to “make America healthy again.”

According to Healthline, fluoride is a natural mineral used to strengthen teeth and prevent tooth decay. When consumed in appropriate amounts, it is safe and “is added to local water supplies in many American cities.” Along with water, it is also found in soil, rocks, plants and air.

Fluoride is considered one of the greatest public health discoveries of the 20th century. In a statement released in October, the American Dental Association said they, along with other major health organizations, “continue to support community water fluoridation at optimal levels to prevent tooth decay.”

“Even in an age of widespread availability of fluoride from a variety of sources, other studies show that community water fluoridation prevents at least 25% of tooth decay in children and adults over their lifetime.” Linda J. Edgar, DDS, president of the American Dental Association, said.

At a rally in Dearborn, Mich., on Nov. 1, Trump said Kennedy “will have a big role in health care” as part of his administration if he wins the 2024 election. He added that RFK Jr. “there are some points of view that I strongly agree with and have been for a long time.”

According to NBC News, Trump told Tucker Carlson the day before during an Oct. 31 event about how Kennedy can “do whatever he wants” in the health care role. “He really wants to with pesticides and, you know, all different things. I said, he can do it.”

“He can do whatever he wants. He wants to look at vaccines. He wants — everything. I think it’s great. I think it’s great,” he added, referring to Kennedy’s potential work “on health and women’s health.”

In the past, Kennedy has pushed baseless conspiracy theories about vaccines and COVID-19. He was previously banned from Instagram for two years for spreading misinformation about the coronavirus. Kennedy’s potential role in Trump’s health care administration could have serious consequences.

Several large studies have shown that vaccines are safe. There is no scientific link between vaccines and autism, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
