Rohiqa Chagla’s grandfather Mahommedali Currim Chagla (popularly known as MC Chagla) was an Indian freedom fighter who served in the Jawaharlal Nepal Served in Helu’s cabinet. MC Chagla served as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court from 1947 to 1958. He was also a member of the Muslim League. However, he severed ties with the League after its leader, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, began fighting for an independent Muslim state. In 1985, a statue of her grandfather was unveiled and placed outside the Chief Justice’s Court of the Bombay High Court. The inscription on the statue reads:

Apparently, the legal framework within which Cyrus sued the Tata Group was laid out by Roshika’s father, Iqbal Chagla.
