Ronald William Howard (aka Ron Howard) is an American film director, producer and actor. He first rose to prominence as Andy Griffith’s son Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” and also appeared on “Happy Days” as a young Richie Cunningham. His 2001 film “A Beautiful Mind” was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and Howard was named Best Director. At the time Ron was born, he had served three years in the United States Air Force. In addition, he directed the films “Apollo 13” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss.

Additionally, Ron served as executive producer and narrator for the hit comedy series “Arrested Development.” In 1986, he founded Imagine Entertainment with producer Brian Grazer. Ron has been honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his achievements in the television and film industries. In addition, in 2021 he starred in the documentary film “Paper & Glue” and created the television series “Crime Scene: Disappearance at the Cecil Hotel”.

Ron Howard was born on March 1, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma, United States. He is of American nationality and comes from a mixed ethnic heritage, with ancestors from Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands. Similarly, he is Christian and Caucasian. Ron had his 69th birthday in 2024; according to his date of birth, he is a Pisces. His father was born with the surname “Beckenholdt” and began his acting career in 1948 with the stage name “Howard”. he is the eldest son of actress Jean Speegle Howard (1927–2000) and director, writer and actor Rance Howard (1928–2017). He has one brother, Clint Howard.
