Rosario Dawson, 44, to Become Grandmother Next Year: ‘Very Exciting’

The Rosario Dawson family is growing!

The Ahsoka the actress (44) is reportedly preparing to become a grandmother. On Thursday, Page Six reported that the Hollywood star’s daughter, 21-year-old Isabella Dawson, is expecting her first child.

“It’s very exciting,” he said Seven pounds talent told the outlet, adding that the child is due to be born next year and that she plans to go to “Glamma”.

PEOPLE reached out to Dawson’s rep for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Rosario spoke exclusively to PEOPLE this summer about Isabella — who she adopted in 2014 at age 11.

“I’ve seen this thing, the people you go on vacation with are either people who want to do a lot of things or they just want to lie around and do nothing. My daughter is a lay person and does nothing [on the] beach,” Haunted castle the actress told PEOPLE in August.

At the time, the star discussed her work with SHISEIDO Blue Project’s Third Annual Beach Cleanup, in partnership with WSL One Ocean and WILDCOAST.

Continuing to rave about her daughter, she added: “It’s all about that! I’ve done some masterful sand mermaid tails on her. I have to say. You know, lay there, kid. Just stick your head out. And she’s got this beautiful curly hair. She’s my mermaid.”

Before becoming Isabella’s mom, Rosario knew the young girl’s mother. The Men in Black II said the actress Health for the March 2021 issue, which she decided to adopt after learning that Isabella was in foster care.

“It wasn’t even a question; it was obviously meant to be,” she said.

“I’m grateful for her development, our maturation and our connection,” she explained in her cover story for the magazine. “Having a young person move in with you and having to really consciously work on triggers and things like that is a really different thing than being pregnant and having your child growing in front of you — being able to see us getting closer and closer. We’re a family and that is beautiful.”

Speaking to PEOPLE Now in December 2018, Rosario said that despite her and Isabelle not being biologically related, many saw an “uncanny” resemblance between the now 21-year-old and Rosario’s mother, Isabel Celeste.

“When we walk down the street, no one questions whether we are a family or not,” said the actress. “She’s Puerto Rican, and the island is small, so maybe we’re related, but it’s kind of extraordinary.”

While Josie and the Cats While the alum didn’t tease any possible names for her granddaughter, there’s a good chance that if the baby is a girl, she’ll stick to a special family tradition.

“She was named after my grandmother,” Rosario said Parents magazine We are a family podcast in November 2021 explaining the sweet sentiment behind Isabella’s name.

“So my grandmother was Isabel. My mom is Isabel Celeste, I’m Rosario Isabel.”
