Suzette Meade of the North Parramatta Residents Action Group said they thought the site where the Royal Oak Hotel stands was only used for storage during the construction of the light rail. Suzette Meade told Ben Fordham: “We’ve seen it there growing weeds and the light rail isn’t on it, and we’ve passed it and it’s like a dagger to the heart.” But Transport NSW went on to say that it would buy the site as the hotel needed to be demolished as it was close to the road. A Transport NSW spokesman said the hotel was located in an area that had been used for road widening, making room for light rail tracks, traffic lanes and footpaths.
