In 2018, Rupesh joined Kannadiga groups in protesting against legendary Indian actor Rajinikanth’s comments on the Cauvery water dispute. His organization even asked theater owners in Bengaluru to stop screenings of Rajinikanth’s film Kala (2018). In an interview, he spoke about the protests. Rupesh said the protest was against Rajini’s remarks and not against Tamils.
He even started #WeDontWantHindiDivas and #WewantBharatabhashadivasa campaigns on his Twitter account.

- Rupesh is a big supporter of Kannada and has endorsed the language on various platforms. In an interview, while talking about Kannada, he said:
I used to love Kannada. I used to be an anchor. I acted in the movie. Then began the fight for Kannada. Everyone knows me now. It is said that I hate all languages. However, I am simply against the imposition of another language on top of our own. “
- Once, Rupesh participated in a reality show where actor Sudeep was the judge. Rupesh thanked Sudeep for speaking out for Kannadigas. He said,
You have improved your perception of Kannada. This incident was known to 70 million people at once. You hoisted the Kannada flag on the Burj Khalifa building. On behalf of all of Karnataka, I thank you. I was so angry that I couldn’t cry. But when I get angry, I get angry like everyone else. “
