“He sat there and watched the whole movie, and you could see his eyes tweet,” says Riverain ex -husband and Josey’s father Ryan Dorsey for People. “But he is a strong boy and has a lot of content and episode. His mom will live forever. I think it’s a silver lining of this terrible situation.”

Since Rivera dried up in July 8, 2020, while she swam with Josey, then 4, from a rental ship in Lake Pira in Ventura County in California, Dorsey, 41, says he struggled to watch Rivera on TV.

Although he will mark the five years from River’s death this summer, Dorsey says reminders are still everywhere.

“So many songs make me think about her, like ‘Valerie’ Amy Winehouse, which she sang Joy, and ‘sunflower’ from [Post Malone and Swae Lee] Since I always used to get her sunflowers on Sunday, “he says.” I can only see Josey in the back seat that the side of the head and sings that song. ”

“Sometimes they are happy reminders, but many times, even if she is happy, the reality is that there is a lot of what it might be, what it should be,” he continues. “There was a lot of other speculation and wondered how things could be played if the smallest decision we make really changes the course of life.”

Since River’s death, Dorsey felt the weight of a rush of paternity and his career, especially since Josey began to ask questions he couldn’t answer.

“We made this book of memories for Josey sitting along his bed, and during the holidays she cried watching her,” Dorsey says. “You can just hug him and tell him, ‘I know, life is not fair. Bad things happen and there is no reason for that, and you just have to do your best to be a good person. “It’s hard to try to explain things you can’t make sense no matter what age you are in.”

While the topic of fun is still in the air, Dorsey says it will probably have something to do with robots.

“Was a movie called Short circuit In the late 80s, and he loves Johnny 5, “says Dorsey.” There is a pile of replica there, and for years I have been trying to find Johnny 5. But he still loves Johnny 5, and he really deals with engineers and robots. All the movies I presented to him from the 80’s, as Et and GooniesHe loves them all. He is such a soul from the 80’s. ”
