Ryan Grantham, an actor, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his mother, Barbara Waite. In March 2020, Graham pleaded guilty to ‘guilty’ of second-degree murder. The decision was made by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Vancouver. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Grantham will not be able to apply for a pardon for at least 14 years. Barbara’s loved ones, including Grantham’s sister, were cited by Judge Kathleen Ker. Ker notes that the only thing that saved him was that he was aware of the crime and didn’t go on a rampage.
Ker discussed Grantham’s mental struggles, pointing out that he had some problems prior to the event and that he had also seen violent material on the internet. He is currently receiving psychiatric treatment in prison and appears to have made significant progress. Grantham, according to attorney Chris Johnson, was not surprised by the verdict. Johnson stated that
“I believe he is looking forward to the sentence handed down by the court. I believe he is worried about the whole situation. He is a small man and I am sure that going to prison is a terrible prospect. terrible and terrifying to him.”

Given Grantham’s condition, Ker advised against sending him to a high-security prison.

Ryan Grantham shot and killed his mother while she was playing the piano. He was 21 years old then. However, he turned himself in.
Prosecutor Michaela Donnelly’s psychiatric examination revealed that Ryan Grantham suffered from severe depression prior to the incident. According to sources, he felt compelled to commit violence and suicide, and decided to kill his mother so that she would not see the atrocities he wanted to commit. Grantham’s sister is said to have found out about their mother on April 1, and she also revealed that her mother was suffering from cancer.
