Any fan of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” will surely remember the complicated but always entertaining world of Sabrina Spellman (Melissa Joan Hart). She will also likely miss her long-term relationship with Harvey Kinkle (Nate Richert). Although Sabrina was almost married to another guy, Harvey and Sabrina ended up going into the sunset together at the end of the show, but Harvey wasn’t Sabrina’s only boyfriend. In fact, one of those love interests was demonstrated by Ryan Reynolds.
In the 1996 film “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” — a Showtime-produced film that serves as a launchpad and precursor to Sabrina’s sitcom adventures — Sabrina is pursued by two men. One is a Seth (Reynolds) athlete, and the other is Harvey (Tobias Mehler).
Seth happens to be the boyfriend of Sabrina’s rival, Katie La More (Lalainia Lindbjerg), and Sabrina tries to use her magic to seduce Seth into seeing her as a romantic option, keeping an eye on Harvey. Although Katie abandons Seth and Sabrina gets a chance to take him to the Spring Fling dance, she realizes that Seth is a jerk and leaves him for Harvey.
Even though Seth and Sabrina had no such intentions, the characters still have chemistry. Hart even admitted that this sense of attraction translated into her real-life friendship with Ryan Reynolds.
In a 2017 interview with Australian morning show Studio 10, Melissa Joan Hart admitted that she and Ryan Reynolds flirted while filming “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
“He was very sweet. I had a boyfriend at the time, but we were passionate and sweet, and he was amazing,” she said. “He’s a really, really nice guy. He’ll probably be a great guy, and I’m not done with another guy yet, so maybe I should take a chance.”
Hart, who has been happily married to Mark Wilkerson since 2003 and has three sons with him, has no regrets that her life has turned out that way. Still, it’s great to know that she, like many others, had a crush on Reynolds at some point in her life.
