Sabrina Carpenter Celebrates 25th Birthday in Yellow Minidress (from Depop!) Inspired by How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Sabrina Carpenter’s birthday look was straight out of a rom-com.

After dropping “Espresso,” playing her first Coachella and then making her Met Gala debut with boyfriend Barry Keoghan, Carpenter had only one thing left to do — and that’s celebrate her 25th birthday in style.

For their party in Brooklyn, NY on May 11, The A girl meets the world alum wore a silky buttery yellow minidress channeling Kate Hudson as Andie Anderson in the How to lose a guy in 10 days.

Sabrina Carpenter’s stylist, Jared Ellner, bought the dress at a thrift store so she could channel Andie Anderson.

Like the famous 2003 dress designed by Carolina Herrera and costume designer Karen Patch, Carpenter’s featured a plunging neckline and open back. The only difference was that the singer’s was a mini version, with sequin straps and insoles, and her stylist, Jared Ellner, got it from Depop, an online platform for shopping vintage and second-hand clothes.

Carpenter added an extra touch of sparkle with a W. Salamoon canary diamond necklace. She also kept her blonde hair in a feathered style with curtain bangs and wore her signature make-up (aka rosy cheeks and lined lips) by Caroline Gonzalez.

If Carpenter was Andie, Keoghan, 31, was easily Matthew McConaughey’s Benjamin Barry in a button-down dress, as seen in some of the clips of the party shared on social media.

Keoghan was actually in charge of putting the whole party together (how sweet!).

A source told PEOPLE that the party was held at DUMBO House in Brooklyn with about 100 friends, including rapper Ice Spice.

According to an insider, the venue for the event was decorated with blue, yellow and white balloons. Guests dined on an array of food options and enjoyed a custom drink menu, which of course featured an espresso martini, presumably in honor of Carpenter’s new single, which is currently number two on the Billboard Global 200 chart.

There was also a cake with a meme mocking Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life — specifically, that he doesn’t date women over the age of 25. A source told PEOPLE. Carpenter blew out the candles before sharing a sweet kiss with Keoghan.

This marks a new milestone for the couple since they first linked up in December 2023. They’ve been pretty low-key about their romance until they made their red carpet debut on March 10. vanity fair Oscar Party, where Keoghan was spotted with his “Sabrina” friendship bracelet.

Carpenter and Keoghan attended the Met Gala separately on May 6, but stopped to pose for photos at the top of the stairs.
