Sabrina the Teenage Witch Cast Thinks the Show Would Hold Up Today — Minus Salem the Cat’s ‘Racy’ Lines (Exclusive)

While Sabrina teenage witch ended its seven-season run in 2003, Melissa Joan Hart and her co-stars say the show would still be around today — with one exception.

While speaking with PEOPLE at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Fla., in September, the 48-year-old actress said “yes” when asked if the show could still air in 2024.

“Yeah, I guess. I think so,” she clarified, with a warning about the show’s cat skeleton. “Salem, some of Salem’s lines might have to be changed. Like maybe he was a little brave, maybe he was a little inappropriate.”

The series centers on Hart as Sabrina Spellman, a teenager who discovers on her 16th birthday that she is one of a long line of witches — including her two aunts, with whom she lives, along with Salem, a witch who obeys like a house cat.

Hart’s co-star Jenna Leigh Green – who played Libby Chessler Sabrina — added, “I think there’s something about our show that … families watched together.”

“There were things that were over the top for kids that were for adults,” Hart added. “But it was mostly Salem’s sentences.”

Hart remains in touch with his cast Sabrina and in October, she shared a photo of herself on Instagram with Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, who played her aunts on the show.

Hart shared photos of the trio dining in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the aptly named Witchery Hotel and on the city’s historic streets.

Hart previously told PEOPLE that she “definitely had more fun” with her character Clarissa on Nickelodeon Clarissa explains everything but with her teenage witch Sabrina, as she grew up in tandem with Clarissa throughout the series.

“Be included Clarissa he gave me that freedom to kind of figure out who I am as she discovers who she is,” she said. “So the line is really blurred between me and Clarissa, we were exactly the same age.”
