Sabyasachi Chakrabarty is a veteran Indian Bengali actor, best known for playing iconic Bengali detective characters such as Feluda in Satyajit Ray’s Feluda series and the Bengali film “Ek Tukro Chand” (2001 Kakababu (Kakababu).

Sabyasachi Chakrabarty (also known as Sabyasachi Chakraborty) was born on Saturday, September 8, 1956, in Kolkata (now Kolkata), West Bengal, India (age 67; as of 2023). In 1975, he completed his education from Andrew High School, Kolkata. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. In 1978, he passed the AMIE exam. While studying at university, he was actively involved in theater performances. In 1983, he became an active member of the Charbak Theater Company in Kolkata.

Gaurav is married to his long-time girlfriend Ridhima Ghosh, a famous Bengali actress. In an interview, while talking about Gaurav’s relationship with his family, he said:
I don’t feel pressure from my parents. Neither did my brother Arjun. My father (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty) was quiet but would give advice if asked. Maa was very encouraging and highly appreciated. After graduation, I did some theater acting in my family’s Charkbak band, but working with my dad left me with shaky knees. “

I don’t want to be an actor. I’m a technician. After joining theatre, I realized I could design sets, audio. So, I have a lot of background work. I was a technical director at a production company that used to produce television content, and I was always checking cameras, tripods. In the first serial “Bangla Golpo Bichitra”, there was no “Boom Man” one day. ”

In the 1996 Indian Bengali detective series “Feluda 30” directed by Satyajit Ray, the protagonist is private detective Feluda, played by various actors including Soumitra Chatterjee and Shashi Kapoor. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty played the role in the films Baksho Rahashya (1996) and Double Feluda (2016).

He has acted in several Bengali films, including “Ek Tukro Chand” (2001), “Waarish” (2004), “Sangram” (2005) and “Kolkatay Kohinoor” (2019). In 2021, he appeared in Subhrajit Mitra’s critically acclaimed film Avijatrik, playing the role of Shankar, a middle-aged traveler.

When Sabyasachi returned to Kolkata, he was offered a television role by his aunt’s husband, Jochhon Dastidar. He made his television debut in 1987 with the critically acclaimed Bengali drama “Tero Parbon”, which was aired on Kolkata’s Doordarshan channel. Sabyasachi played the protagonist named Gora, which made him a household name in Bengal. He has appeared in Bengali shows such as In Their Life (2018) on Addatimes, Sleeper Cell (2021) on Mojoplex and Search on Klikk ( 2022). In 2020, he starred in Zee5’s Hindi web series Lalbazaar alongside actor Ajay Devgn.
