He made headlines when he attempted suicide on August 9, 2022, at his residence in Kolkata. Shortly after he injured himself with the sharp object, he posted a video of the incident on Facebook and blamed the incident on his wife and mother-in-law. After his video went viral on social media, the local police rushed him to the National Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
