Patrick Mahomes shares more details about his upcoming restaurant with Travis Kelce.
While at the 101 Awards press conference on Friday (where he accepted the Derrick Thomas Award), Mahomes opened up about his steakhouse vision, 1587 Prime. He said the Chiefs’ hometown was the perfect backdrop for their first culinary project.
“Me and Travis have been working on it for a while. We are always together. We’re always in those restaurants and we like to bring people together,” he said in a video shared by Fox 4 Kansas City. “We’re going to do everything we can to continue to bring people together and what better place than Kansas City.”
One reporter joked that it would be “a $15 menu, right?” which led Mahomes to agree that they wanted the restaurant to be affordable.
“I’m sure there will be some things in there that will cost $15,” he revealed. “Honestly, we thought about it and we don’t want it to be too fancy, too expensive that not everyone can go.”

He added, “So we’re going to make it a place that hopefully Kansas City can call home, and everybody can be there and really enjoy it.”
And it’s not just for the patrons to enjoy – the star quarterback wants to celebrate after NFL games at the club.
“Hopefully we can win some games at Arrowhead Stadium and then we can go out and have drinks and food to go with it,” he said.

The dad-of-two also teased what food offerings will make up the menu.
“I’ve already seen the menu…a few of my favorites. There will also be ketchup,” he said with a laugh, referring to his well-known love of condiments.

Earlier this month, Mahomes and Kelce announced they were opening 1587 Prime together. (The name is a combination of their jersey numbers.)
The venue will be inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel, and global hospitality group, Noble 33, is partnering with the athletes to bring it to life.

With an opening set for early 2025, the large modern steakhouse will occupy 10,000 square feet and span two floors. Additionally, there will be plenty of private dining and food items and decor that “hyper-subtly nod” to Mahomes and Kelce’s football accolades, according to the release.
“We are excited to be a part of this journey with Noble 33 to create a unique dining experience, and what better place to start than our own Kansas City,” Kelce said in a statement at the time.
