Sakshi Reddy was brutally murdered by her alleged boyfriend Sahil on May 28, 2023, in Shahbad Dairy area of Rohini, New Delhi. Apparently, Sakshi was on her way to the market to buy a gift for her friend’s son (birthday) when Sahil accosted her on a densely populated street. When Sakshi refused to talk to Sahil, he stabbed her multiple times and hacked her more than 20 times before smashing her head with a cement boulder. Speaking about the incident in a media interview, her mother said:
In the market, Sahil approaches her and invites her to come with him. But when my daughter asked him why, he stabbed her multiple times and soon fell unconscious. He then repeatedly hit her on the head with a rock. “

According to some reports, Sakshi, who has been dating Sahil for over three years, wanted to break up with him and the two had an argument over the matter on May 27, 2023. Based on preliminary investigation of the case, Delhi Police Special Constable Dependra Pathak said,
According to current information, they (Sahil-Sakshi) knew each other but had some quarrels or parted ways. The accused (Sahil) committed this heinous murder out of spite. This is a crime of passion. Further investigation is ongoing. “
Sakshi’s father registered a case under Section 32 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at Shahbad Dairy police station.
Sahil is arrested
Sahil fled the scene shortly after committing the crime. He returned home first, where he kept his mobile phone, and then went to Kashmir Gate bus stand from where he took a bus to his aunty (Bua) Shamim’s house. After reaching his aunt’s house, Sahil called his mother and described the entire incident to her. The Delhi Police started looking for Sahil after Sakshi’s father filed a complaint against Sahil at the Shahbad Dairy Police Station. Sahil was arrested from Aterna village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on May 29, 2023, after the Delhi Police traced a phone call from Sahil’s aunt to his father.

- A 90-second CCTV footage of Sahil can be seen pressing Sakshi against the wall with one hand and using the other in a busy lane of Shahbad Dairy complex after the incident went viral on the internet. He stabbed her repeatedly. Sahil didn’t stop even when Sakshi fell to the ground. He stabbed her about 20 times, kicked her and then hit her in the head about six times with a cement slab.
- Sakshi’s parents demanded death penalty for Sahil. In a media interview, her father while demanding severe punishment for Sahil said,
We need justice for our daughter. She was brutally stabbed multiple times and her head was smashed multiple times with rocks. We want the accused to be hanged. “
