Salma Shah, one of the judges for the WM People’s Top Employer Awards 2023, believes that there has been a movement from knowledge to action over the past year.

According to Shah, more firms are implementing diversity and inclusion (D&I) policies. She has been hired by more businesses than typical to teach managers in coaching with an emphasis on D&I concerns.

Every year, WM People honours the UK’s top workplaces with its Top Employer Awards. Categories like Best for Family Support, Best for Diversity & Inclusion, Best for Older Workers, and Best for Women’s Career Progression will be honoured during this year’s ceremony on February 7.

Shah says she looked for firms whose initiatives were fully integrated into the workplace while assessing this year’s awards, not merely one-off workshops or knee-jerk reactions. In order to have a real influence, she wanted to see businesses that had employee wellbeing explicitly stated in their rules and profoundly ingrained in their culture.
