Salome Roy Kapur is an Indian actress, model and dancer. She is also a dance teacher, fashion show and theatre director and personality development teacher. She is the mother of the Roy brothers Siddharth Roy Kapur (producer), Kunaal Roy Kapur (actor) and Aditya Roy Kapur (actor).

Salome Roy Kapur was born in November 1951 in India as Solome Aaron (68 years old in 2019). She started training in dance at the age of five. In Western dance, she has trained in ballroom dance, various Latin American dances, tap dance, Spanish dance and folk dance; in Indian dance, she is a trained dancer of Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Kathakali.

Profession

In 1968, she started her modeling career. At the age of 12, she starred in a Cadbury advertisement along with her brother. The next year, she appeared in an advertisement for Apsara sarees. She walked in many events and showed off her dancing skills in the catwalks. In 1971, she won the Spanish beauty pageant. In 1972, she won the title of Miss India.

She has also modeled for ITC Wills, Godrej, Cadbury, Tata, Century Mills, Calico, TBZ, Taj Mahal Tea and many textile companies. She made her showbiz debut with the film Tu Hi Meri Zindagi (1965).

She also acted in the films Ek Bechara (1972) and Black (2005). However, due to her love for dance, she chose to become a choreographer. She was the choreographer for the famous song “Main Shayar To Nahin” from the film Bobby (1973). She conducts dance and beauty workshops in various schools and has her own dance academy.
