The beats are produced by San and are designed to help aspiring rappers create their own songs using beats that are free of copyright issues.
- In an interview, when asked what he mainly raps about in his songs, he responded:
I usually rap about my life – my stories, things I’ve been through, things I value and care about, and I believe that’s what true hip-hop is. It’s about the message. ”
- In an interview, he talked about his ambitions and dreams and expressed his hope that his songs would be on every hip-hop lover’s go-to playlist. He said,
My ultimate goal is to have my songs on every hip hop lover’s go-to playlist. I know those days are not far away. I believe in my dreams. ”
- In ‘Veendinguppu’, the sixth song from his second album ‘Munvidhi’, he spoke about mental health issues and was featured in The New Indian Express on July 23, 2020. San spoke about depression in an interview and said that after going through it, he decided to write a song to express his victory over it and penned his first Malayalam song “Thee”. He said,
I went through depression and struggled a lot to get out of it. I wanted to express my victory through a song and that’s how I wrote my first Malayalam rap song ‘Thee’. This is also the genesis of my second album ‘Munvidhi’. Depression is highly under-reported in India and many people are still unaware of how seriously it affects our mental state. As an artist, I want to help others who have been through a similar path. ”
- San said hip-hop is becoming more popular in India but Malayalam hip-hop is still not popular. In an interview, he shared his views on the South Indian hip-hop scene and his working techniques, saying,
Even though there are many artists putting out back-to-back singles and albums, we still don’t get the influence and recognition that rap deserves. Rap is all about choosing the right words and creating your own unique beat. You have to keep trying. When it comes to Malayalam rap, reading and researching is the only way you can find the right words. Whatever you do is new because there has never been a big hip-hop scene in Kerala. It’s all about trial and error, and you’ll eventually get to a unique place where your musical intuition tells you “it’s right there, it sounds good, we can go”. That’s what I do. ”
