Sanjay Singh is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1996 batch Odisha cadre. In October 1999, he was appointed as the Director General of Police, Odisha. Later, he served as Additional Director General (ADG) of Odisha Drug Task Force (DTF). Later, he served as the Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar and the twin cities of Odisha. He was one of the investigators into the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam. He was appointed as Inspector General of Police, Government of India on January 31, 2015. He served as NCB representative in January 2021. Sanjay also served as Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Bureau of Narcotics Control. In 2021, after the removal of NCB regional director Sameer Wankhede in the famous Aryan Khan and others cruise ship drug case, Sanjay was appointed as the leader of the NCB’s special investigation team. Apart from the cruise ship drugs case, five other cases led by Sameer Wankhede were handed over to him in 2021.
