Sapna started her dancing career when she was 12 years old. After her father passed away, the responsibility of supporting the family fell on her shoulders. She took up dancing due to financial difficulties at home. She later founded the Arkestra Group, one of India’s leading orchestras. Her song “Solid Body” was loved by the audience.

According to reports, Sapna joined the Congress Party in March 2019 and met with Congress Secretary-General Jyotiraditya Scindia before joining. It was also reported that she hopes to contest against the BJP’s Hema Malini in the Lok Sabha elections in Mathura. Uttar Pradesh Congress president Raj Babbar tweeted a photo of Sapna with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, welcoming her to the Congress.

Sapna has denied claims that she joined the Congress party. She clarified that the photo was taken during a previous meeting with Priyanka Gandhi and did not mean she was planning to join the Congress party. The BJP supported her statement and condemned the Congress’ action.

In 2016, she was accused of insulting a specific caste through a song she sang during a stage performance. Thereafter, a man named Satpal Tanwar launched an online campaign against her and harassed her. Sapna even committed suicide by consuming rat poison at her residence due to depression. She wrote a suicide note then, which went viral after her participation in Bigg Boss 11.

In August 2022, a Lucknow court issued an arrest warrant against Sapna after it was found that she had breached her contract to perform on stage in Lucknow in 2018. Event organizers accused her of breaching the contract even after receiving payment. She surrendered in Lucknow on September 20, 2022, where she was briefly arrested and later released on a personal bail of Rs 20,000 after she requested the court to withdraw the arrest warrant issued against her.
Dowry case
In 2023, a case was reportedly filed against Sapna, her brother and her mother for demanding dowry and harassing her sister-in-law. The case was registered at the Palwal Women Police Station in Haryana. Sapna’s brother got married in 2018. His wife alleged in her complaint that the family demanded dowry from her and harassed and sexually exploited her when she did not meet their demands.

Rumors of Sapna’s death
In 2021, rumors of Sapna’s death were rampant. She died allegedly after an accident near Sirsa in Haryana. The rumors turned out to be false. Sapna said the rumors scared her family and friends and it was an unsettling experience.
