Sara Jacob is an Indian journalist and news editor. She is best known for hosting NDTV’s 24×7 prime time flagship show “We The People”. Sara resigned from NDTV on May 22, 2023, after working with the channel for about 22 years.

Sarah Jacob, also known as Priya Sarah Jacob, was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1984 in Kerala (age 39; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Leo. She grew up in various cosmopolitan cities in India as her father was a soldier. Sarah attended St Mary’s School in Derry from 1995 to 1999. Although her grandmother wanted her to become a doctor, Sarah studied humanities in grades 11 and 12 because she loved reading. When Sarah was studying in Grade 12, a new journalism major was launched at Lady Shri Ram College for Girls. Sarah took the program’s entrance exam and was one of 18 students selected to participate in the program. Sarah graduated in Journalism from Ms. Shri Ram College, Delhi from 1999 to 2002. Soon, she got a job at NDTV. At the same time, she studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Communication Media (2002-2003). Sarah Jacob started her career as a news reporter and anchor in June 2003 at NDTV, New Delhi. Initially, she reported on health, crime and education.
She worked there until January 2004, then moved to New York to continue her studies. In June 2005, Sarah joined NDTV as the New York Bureau Chief. While working in the United States, Sarah covered the presidential elections twice, once in 2008 and again in 2012. She was one of the first Indian journalists to visit Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and served as the host of the half-hour program Inside Guantanamo. A show about the politics behind the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. Jacobs also covered the Oscars from the red carpet. Sarah has also covered stories ranging from the Indo-US nuclear deal to the US Open to the G20 summit.
In 2010, Jacobs was certified as a White House traveling press accompanying President Obama, covering his first state visit to India. Sarah has also interviewed many famous people including Bill Gates, Salman Rushdie and Evan Williams. She worked as a US correspondent until June 2013, when she returned to India and started working as a senior editor and anchor at NDTV. As an anchor, she co-hosts the primetime shows Crime and the City and NewsFirst@10 with Sarah Jacobs.
Jacobs has reported extensively on health and environmental issues. She also served as a journalist for the series “Saving India’s Coast,” in which she traveled throughout India’s coastline to report on the environmental damage occurring along it. Thereafter, she served as anchor and producer of New Delhi Television’s (NDTV) flagship weekly show “We The People”. The show is an audience-based program that discusses the most relevant social and political issues of the day. Sarah regularly welcomes key stakeholders to trade shows and brings them face-to-face with members of civil society to discuss entire specific issues. As the show’s producer and host, she focuses on every aspect of the show, from its concept development to its final packaging. In January 2020, she chose to work part-time at NDTV.
Resigned from New Delhi Television
On May 22, 2023, Sarah Jacob resigned from NDTV after hosting a show that portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the great savior of women. Her resignation came amid widespread criticism of a press statement in which she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for respecting women. Soon after the press release, a video went viral on social media in which Sara hosted a news report and read out how Modi respects women. Many called it an agenda-driven press bulletin.

She also added that it was a privilege for her to work with the best. Sarah becomes the ninth prominent journalist and senior editor to resign from the channel after it was acquired by the Adani Group in December 2022. Ravish Kumar left NDTV soon after Adani Group acquired the channel. Subsequently, NDTV Group President Suparna Singh, Chief Strategy Officer Arijit Chatterjee and Chief Technology and Product Officer Kawaljit Singh Bedi also quit the channel. Following this, Sreenivasan Jain and Nidhi Razdan also stepped down. Apparently, this was the only job Sarah had from the beginning.
