Saravanan is an Indian actor, director and poet. He was born on 10 October 1966 (52 years; age 2018) in Salem to a Tamil family. From 1991 to 1998, Saravanan starred in nearly 26 films. Saravanan came into limelight with the 2007 film Paruthiveeran. He is considered to be actor Vijaykanth’s doppelgänger. After working in showbiz for a while, Saravanan became a director. Saravanan also wrote many poems.

Saravanan is the second among his five siblings. His father was a police inspector and his mother was a nurse. Saravanan received his BA in Tamil Literature from Government College of Arts, Salem. He completed his acting course from Aditya Film Institute.
Saravanan married Surya Shanthi in 1996 and they have a son.
Profession
Saravanan started his acting career in the early 1990s and has appeared in many rural-themed Tamil films. Saravanan served as the leading actor from 1991 to 1998 and starred in nearly 26 movies. He made his debut in the Tamil film industry in 1991 with Vaidhehi Vanthachu. However, by the late 1990s, his acting career had not seen further development.
Saravanan is the producer of “Santosham” which was released in 1998. Since the film failed to create a buzz, Saravanan started playing music gigs overseas to make up for his losses. He ventured into directing with the film Thaayumaanavan.
In 2001, he returned with a supporting role in Nanda. However, Paruthiveeran, released in 2007, brought him back into the limelight.
His performance in Paruti Veeran was not only critically acclaimed but also paved the way for many films to be made. He had a special appearance in Veeramum Eeramum, which was released in 2007 and was based on the real life of Venkatesa Pannaiyar.
In 2019, he made his debut in the television industry by participating in the third season of the entertainment reality show “Bigg Boss” (Tamil).
