Biography of Sarkodie
Sarkodie was born on July 10, 1085 in Tema, Ghana as the fourth child of his mother Emma Maame Aggrey. He graduated from Tema Methodist Senior School with a certificate from the Western African Senior School and IPMC with a diploma in graphic design. He was an underground rapper in high school until he met his manager Duncan Williams at the famous rap competition Kasahare Level.

Career
Sarkodie started his career as an underground rapper before he met his former manager Duncan Williams of Duncwills Entertainment while competing in Adom FM’s rap competition Kasahare Level. During this event, he also met other musicians such as Edem and Castro, who introduced him to Hammer of the Last Two, a famous producer who was impressed by his rapping flows. Hammer helped Sarkodie record his Volta Regime album.’
He collaborated with Hammer on his debut album ‘Makye’. Kwaw Kese, J-Town, Sway and Paedae of R2Bees all appeared on this album. ‘Makye’ received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Sarkodie’s Push and Baby ranked ninth and nineteenth on Joy FM’s Top 50 Songs of 2009. The album’s lead single, ‘Baby’, became a hit, giving him further exposure.
In 2012, he released his second album, “Rapperholic”, which included five singles: “Good Bye”, “One Time for Your Mind”, “You Go Kill Me”, “Living Legend” and “Onyame Nhyira”. He went on a national tour to promote the album, which earned him his first BET nomination and subsequent win. Other albums include 2014’s ‘Adonai’, 2015’s ‘New Guy’ and ‘Mary’, 2017’s ‘Highest’ and 2019’s ‘Alfa’.

Sarkodie has 92 awards from a total of 165 nominations, including 22 Ghana Music Awards. He won three awards at the 4syteTV Music Video Awards and the Ghana Music Awards for his debut studio album, ‘Make’.
His second album, ‘Rapperholic’ won several awards in 2012 BET Awards, The Headies, Ghana Music Awards, National Youth Achievement Awards, Mobo Awards and Channel O Music Video Awards.
He was also named Best African Artist at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
