The Day Shift is Netflix’s next vampire action comedy, directed by the same people who taught John Wick how to punch**. Oscar winner Jamie Foxx stars in the title role. On August 12, 2022 at 3 AM, it will be available exclusively on the worldwide streaming platform. JJ Perry, best known for his stunt work in hit films such as John Wick and F9: The Fate of the Furious, will make his directorial debut with the Jamie Foxx vehicle. Chad Stahelski (John Wick) will produce, Peter Baxter and Jamie Foxx will executive produce, and Tyler Tice and Shaun Hatten will co-write.

This means that the film will not be available in theaters or on other streaming services. This Friday, Netflix subscribers can see all the funny vampire action.

What can we expect from the film?
Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten wrote the screenplay, and the film is based on Tice’s story. According to the official description of the Netflix film:
“Jamie Foxx plays a hard-working, blue-collar father who just wants to provide a happy life for his reckless daughter, but his prosaic job cleaning pools in the San Fernando Valley is a cover for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of a worldwide union of vampire hunters.”
On July 11, 2022, the official trailer for the action comedy was released, offering the first look at Jamie Foxx’s vampire-hunting, blue-collar wisecracking father. It gave the audience an idea of how much blood, action, humor and adventure they can expect from the picture. The film aims to surpass the limitations of vampire films set by Twilight and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, showing how far we’ve come since then. The trailer’s opening sequence, in which Foxx completes the task and retrieves the vampire’s fangs, gave viewers a taste of Foxx’s vampire-hunting action and visual effects.
The teaser also introduced Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg’s characters in the film, as well as their interaction with Jamie Foxx’s Bud Jablonski. It was clear that Day Shift would have some high-octane action and gore, but the intensity would be broken up by ridiculous interludes.
Who’s on JJ Perry’s day shift?
In addition to Foxx’s performance as Bud Jablonski, the film also stars Dave Franco as Seth, Bud’s sidekick and inexperienced novice in the world of vampire hunting. Snoop Dogg, the famous rapper and media personality will play Big John Elliott. Karla Souza, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, CS Lee and Zion Broadnax will also appear. On August 12, 2022, Netflix will release Day Shift.
